Every unlock tracker ran the same September headline for Solana: roughly $100 million in tokens coming free across the chain this month. The number is real. What it hides is where the weight sits.
More than half of that total is one token. The TRUMP unlock releases about 28.27 million tokens in September, worth close to $60.25 million when trackers logged it in early September at around $2 a coin. Against the whole-list figure the crowd is quoting, that single memecoin is somewhere between 54 and 60 percent of the month.
The rest of the list is not nothing. Pump.fun's PUMP adds about $28.8 million in its third straight monthly release, Collector Crypt's CARDS unlocks near $10.16 million on September 29, and Grass, Kamino and Sanctum contribute smaller tranches on top. Add every line and the month is closer to $112 million than $100 million. Yet calling the whole thing a chainwide supply event misses the fact that matters for price. Most of the fresh supply belongs to one insider-held memecoin, not the network's infrastructure tokens, and the TRUMP unlock is the reason the total looks large at all.
TRUMP is more than half the September list
Here is the month laid out by size.
| Token | September unlock | Share of circulating supply | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| TRUMP | ~$60.25M | 10.35% | Insider vesting, largest tranche September 18 |
| PUMP | ~$28.8M | 1.73% | Third straight monthly release |
| CARDS | ~$10.16M | 6.35% | September 29, paired with a buyback and burn |
| GRASS | ~$7.24M | 2.53% | Ongoing daily vesting plus a month-end step |
| KMNO | ~$5.51M | 4.21% | September 30 |
| CLOUD | ~$0.21M | 1.71% | Smallest of the set |
One name at the top, then a long tail. That shape matters because the tail is spread across genuine Solana projects with products and users, while the head is a token whose entire reason to exist was a launch. The TRUMP unlock is not a Solana story wearing a memecoin costume. It is the reverse.
The percentage you see depends on which denominator the tracker picked, and the two answers sit far apart. Measured against TRUMP's roughly 262 million circulating tokens, the TRUMP unlock is about 10 percent of the tradeable float this month. Measured against the fixed one-billion maximum supply, it is about 2.7 percent. One late-August report even called it 2.9 percent of circulating supply, which reads like the total-supply figure with the wrong label pinned to it.
Float is the number that moves a price. A wave equal to a tenth of everything currently trading, arriving inside a single month, is the pressure a holder actually feels. Coinliva has seen the same split before, when the Kaito unlock came to 13.5 percent of float while one tracker logged 3.26. Read the float number, not the supply number, when you want to know what hits the order book.
Insiders receive nearly all of it
DefiLlama's allocation view puts insiders at 72.2 percent of TRUMP supply today, climbing toward a designed 80 percent. The vesting recipients carry the labels Creators and CIC Digital, the entities tied to the token's launch. A late-August report described the September 18 tranche in plain terms: 28.7 million tokens, designated for project insiders.
Those wallets have been busy. In one 10-hour window in late August, addresses linked to the project pulled $3.39 million in USDC on Solana, and separate transfers pushed hundreds of thousands of tokens toward OKX. That echoes an older pattern Coinliva tracked when LayerZero's ZRO unlock went 94 percent to insiders in one round. Insider allocations come free, then drift toward the venues where they can be sold.
The float it expands is one most buyers are down on
TRUMP is a shadow of its January 2025 self. It peaked at $75.35 and now changes hands near $2, a fall of about 97 percent. A July analysis built on Nansen's on-chain data counted 988,905 accounts sitting on losses, close to two-thirds of everyone who bought, for a combined $3.8 billion. The same work credited the president with roughly $636 million earned from the coin, nearly half of his reported crypto income for the year.
So the tokens flow to the launch side. The buyers absorbing them are the ones already carrying that $3.8 billion. That is the uncomfortable geometry of the TRUMP unlock, and it is the part the whole-list headline sands off.
PUMP and CARDS are a different unlock
Grouping everything together flattens real differences. PUMP's monthly release runs about 1.73 percent of its circulating supply, a steady drip the market has now digested three months running, as Coinliva noted when Pump.fun staff missed a June cliff and insiders unlocked $86 million. CARDS pairs its September 29 release with an announced buyback and burn, a mechanism built to soak up part of the new supply. Neither carries the concentration TRUMP does, and neither routes almost entirely to one set of launch wallets.
Last month told this story in different numbers. August's $1.28 billion unlock list also had one name sitting near half the total. September's version is smaller and more lopsided, and the name on top is a coin whose supply is mostly held by the people who created it.
The date to watch is September 18, when the largest single tranche of the TRUMP unlock lands. The test is narrow: whether a float already down 97 percent can take another 10 percent in fresh supply without the insider wallets speeding up their exits. Volume will answer that before price does. August's transfers to OKX are the pattern to hold up against the September tokens once they clear the cliff.
